Accessories You Need When Buying a Peloton

Prior to buying a Peloton, I was not someone who was super motivated to workout. You may have read my article on 5 Reasons You Should Get a Peloton where you can read about my first hand experience there. But since I’ve owned my Peloton for over a year, here are the accessories I would recommend buying in case you are purchasing a Peloton.

  • Sweat Towels

Believe me when I tell you, I have NEVER sweat before the way I sweat while taking a Peloton cycling class. You will need several sweat towels to circulate throughout the week. True story: I was in no way prepared for this when I first started riding and quickly learned that I would need at at least two towels for every ride!

  • Bluetooth Wireless Headphones

I personally use AirPods but whatever bluetooth wireless headphones you have should work! If you live with other people or prefer rides that have explicit lyrics — headphones might be a good idea.

  • Heart Monitor

The Peloton Bike automatically tracks your calories burned each time you take a ride. However, if you want really detailed workout/more accurate metrics and to see your heart rate throughout, I would highly recommend buying a monitor — maybe an Apple Watch or just a regular FitBit. I took OrangeTheory classes for a bit and use the monitor I bought through them which works great!

  • Cycling Shoes

If you bought the bike, make sure you also buy the shoes. It’s much safer and you actually have more control when you’re clipped into the bike. You can go a lot faster if you want to increase the cadence or even have more “grip” for higher resistance rides.

  • Yoga Mat

I only bought the Peloton Bike but because there’s such a plethora of classes available, I eventually got curious and ventured out to other classes such as Strength, Walking, and Stretching. For a lot of the other workouts, the beauty is that you can still workout from home. For this reason, I recommend you have a yoga mat on hand. You’ll be happy to have it on hand for when you feel especially inspired to workout.

  • Bonus: A mini fan

Remember I told you about how much you sweat on the bike? Nothing will feel better than a mini fan. There’s a lot of options available on Amazon — you can grip one on the handle bars or if you have a mini room fan you can even use that and tilt it to your position on the bike. It took me about a year to finally buy a fan but it was a game-changer.
